Gustav, the newest kid on the hurricane block

Till now, I had only heard about hurricanes. Now, I might get to see one!

Gustav, the latest tropical storm, is soon gonna hit us after devastating Louisiana, Cuba, New Orleans, and others. I'm just hoping that people stay safe this time as they've already planned the evacuation. Only the people who've face the devastating Rita and Katrina hurricanes can feel the anxiety of a new one. People who've just gotten back together after having faced Rita/Katrina are now again readying to face Gustav.

Gustav has hit on the third anniversary of the hurricane Katrina!

Dunno how much impact Gustav will have on Houston and other cities! We canceled our long weekend holiday plans to Corpus Christi too.

The latest is that it has become Category 4 hurricane.

I just hope that Gustav either changes its route or becomes less severe before it hits the land. God please take care of everyone!

    Cute things

Today morning, before leaving for work, Nitin gave me a 1 dollar coin, and asked me to get a Houston Chronicle for myself from downstairs (nothing great but the way he said it was cute!) Open-mouthed ! The kid inside me got into action and I told him that it costs only 50 cents... you've given me extra! Angel He said that the thing is gonna give 50 cents back to me. I said but how am i gonna figure out where to insert the money!! Surprised  He said that it's not a problem and he'd go with me in the eve to get the newspaper. Nerd I was like.. ok Dad! Tongue out

Doesn't make sense, right? Embarrassed But, to me, it felt as if my dad's given me a dollar to buy some sweets worth 50 cents, and instructed me to take the 50 cents back from the shopkeeper! Open-mouthed

Cute things like this do make our day at times! Works for me at least! Wink

    happiness

I'm amazed at the amount of happiness that I get after cooking a great meal for some great people who find the food great and say great words about it! Angel I even get a weird sense of happiness after I've cleaned the kitchen and it looks spic-and-span. Hot Okay now these are not "housewifeish" words/feelings! Tongue out

Maybe I am now getting to feel whatever I couldn't feel earlier because of the work-related thoughts that used to cloud my mind. Thinking

BTW, I've been solving a whole lot of crosswords these days. I feel as if I've become a crossword maniac! Nerd Okay now this doesn't mean that I have all the time in the world. Eye-rolling Tongue out Getting a decent score in some of the kiddish crosswords also makes me happy like a kid! Open-mouthed And later, I wonder about the big deal I thought it was. Sarcastic But then, the good thing is that it makes me happy, whatever kinda happiness it is and wherever it originates from. Smile

as it's getting ready to strike 12

    it's almost midnight
and my fingers are still tapping tap
    on the sleepy keyboard

    it's almost midnight

    August 18

    ...

the soft murmur of the AC
and not-so-soft murmur of the refrigerator
    remind me
    that i'm not alone
my noisy friends always make sure
that i stay away from the silence
    the silence that haunts
    and they also make sure
    that i enjoy the silence
    the silence that is peaceful
    and lets me sleep
    almost uninterrupted

    housewifishness!

When I used to work (that sounds like once upon a time!! Surprised ), I always used to think how good a life without work (the work in office) will be! No stress, no tension, sleep anytime, and do whatever you want. Now that I don't have to go to work anymore, I wonder how the females spend time as house wives. Open-mouthed

How much of blogging, chatting, and surfing can you do in a day? How much of cooking/cleaning can you do? How many books can you read? Thinking

But then, it's not so difficult as well. The funny part is that I used to crave for sleep earlier, and now that I have time to sleep, I can't!! Surprised

I wonder why our body behaves stupid at times! Sick

What do you do when you get no sleep in the night and don't feel like sleeping during the day? Eye-rolling
Yoga, exercise, meditation... no no no! They don't work all the time! Tongue out

    Wohoooo!

Woohoo! I've finally reached Houston and it feels great with Nitin after a break of 2 months!
Since a month, I had only been travelling and meeting people. Time for a break now! Open-mouthed
